What Guests Are Saying

Russian River Campground is highly regarded for its spacious, clean campsites, friendly staff, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favorite spot for many visitors, including long-time campers. Improvements such as a new entrance road and well-maintained facilities enhance the overall experience. However, issues with reservation policies lead to frustration, as many booked sites remain unoccupied, preventing others from enjoying the campground.

The camp site was perfect, near level with a wide paved area for parking and sitting around outside. It was very close to the stairs and walkway to the Russisn river which was perfect since we fished all the days there.

I've been fishing the Russian River and Kenai every year since 2008. Was stationed at Elmendorf from 1982-1985 and went there regularly. Things have changed. I observed people snagging fish and keeping them. People continuing to fish when they had their limits. Not that big a deal, but barbed hooks can't be good for the fish when they are caught and kicked back into the river. I saw NO rangers out there. I did see way more trash, fishing line, empty bottles and cans, and a general lack of concern for that beautiful river. The campsite was great as always, but many many trees had been taken down so it was a little different. I am planning to come back in 2022 and I hope to see more enforcement of the rules and regs, and education on what a blessing that place is.

One of our favorite places to camp, fishing next to bears is a ultimate Alaskan experience! Great for kids and pets! Camp spots are clean and well away from others with great views!

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
