This is an incredíble pile of rocks with petroglyphs from various times and groups on them. It was apparently a popular meeting place for centuries, for ancient indigenous groups, armies, and explorers. It's especially beautiful with the rising or setting of the sun, and the play of light and shadows make many drawings stand out. There are several recognizable symbols, and even some names and dates in more recent etchings. Definitely worth seeing.

Great place to take a side trip off the highway. It's a very easy 11 miles in and 11 miles back out. Lots of petroglyphs to look at. Plenty of parking. There is a very clean pit toilet with toilet paper!

Great hosts on site and the place is kept up. Clean, quiet, well-spaced campsites. No shade, and no water (pit toilets.) Fire pits and big stone tables at each campsite, with all or mostly pull-throughs.

Painted Rock Pentoglyph is one of those places that’s hard to explain until you’re there. It’s incredibly quiet and peaceful. Everything feels still, calm, and untouched. A really special place if you enjoy nature, history and silence.

Neat little site with lots of petroglyphs. Easy to drive to. Very easy to walk around, only about 50 feet from the paved parking lot on a flat dirt-gravel trail. Covered picnic tables. Vault toilets nearby at the adjoining campground. BLM property. Nearest food, lodging and gas is about 15-20 minutes away in Gila Bend.
