This place is great . Food treats wine novelties great nee playground and swings. Pomd with turtles ducks peacocks always a good time. Walking trail filled with old farming equipment . They now have a selfie station out as well.

Fun rest stop for everyone and pet friendly. Has a good restaurant and food and toy shop. Playground for kids and nice for walking around

We stopped by to check out the fruit. Found out they have a variety of dried fruit. Most likely due to the season (December). Although there is more to it than just the fruit. It's nice to walk around and look at the atmosphere. We ended up leaving with wine.

Fun place to stop, shop and eat. Ride a carousel, have a train ride, or pan for gems. The restaurant is really good. There's a deli, a wine shop, an ice cream and candy shop and of course the gift shop and produce market. The grounds are beautifully decorated and the pond is a nice place to enjoy nature. The peacocks add to the allure of Cas de Fruta.

What a magical little spot! Talk about finding an oasis in the desert! But Hollister isn’t a desert and it’s more than an oasis! We took the kids after a visit to Swank Farms for their annual Swank Farms experience. Between the carousel, the ice cream, the playground, the train, and the peacocks, the kids had a blast. And guess what? Mom and dad did too. Rather than give you my boring take, let me give you the ‘deets’ that GROK gave me about the ‘House of Fruit!’

Casa de Fruta (Spanish for “House of Fruit”) is a beloved roadside attraction and family-owned destination in Hollister, California, along State Route 152 in the Pacheco Valley. It’s a sprawling complex that started as a simple orchard and fruit stand but has grown into a one-stop wonderland for travelers, foodies, and families, blending fresh produce, dining, entertainment, and lodging. Located at 10021 Pacheco Pass Hwy, it’s about 20 miles east of Gilroy and a popular pit stop en route to Yosemite or the Central Valley.

The site traces its roots to 1908, when Italian immigrant brothers founded an orchard there. In 1943, three teenage grand-nephews of the original owner launched a humble roadside cherry stand, which expanded to other seasonal fruits. By 1967, the remaining two grand-nephews added more amenities, including a restaurant, gas station, playground, and gift shop. Over the decades, it evolved amid highway expansions (SR 152 widened to four lanes in 1992), but it retains its quirky, nostalgic charm. Today, it’s run by descendants of the Bisceglia family and draws visitors from around the world.

Everything at Casa de Fruta follows a playful “Casa de [Something]” naming convention, creating a cohesive, whimsical vibe. Here’s a breakdown of the highlights:

• Family Fun Zone: Free attractions include a vintage carousel, the Casa de Choo-Choo miniature train ride (with a full-sized engineer spot), a miner’s sluice for panning “gems,” a playground, and roaming peacocks. It’s especially magical for children and a great photo op.
