What Guests Are Saying

Hosmer Grove Campground offers a beautiful, quiet setting with stunning birdwatching opportunities and easy access to Haleakalā National Park. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly rangers, and the convenience of a nature trail nearby. However, the campground lacks running water, and some facilities show signs of neglect, with issues like limited level parking and unpleasant odors from bathrooms. Overall, it serves as a great base for experiencing the park's breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

Great place, but as other reviews noted not a lot of privacy. The road was just paved in June 2021, so I had no problem reaching the site with my Mustang. Parking is a little tough during the day but clears out after 5 PM. I was happy to see a plenty of fresh running water. The restrooms are a little funky, as you would expect from vault toilets. The stars here are awesome at night. My only (very minor) gripe is the grilles are not suitable for cooking burgers, I was glad I brought my propane stove. Note that it gets cold here, even in July, when it got down to almost freezing at night. Overall, this is a good campsite for a not a lot of money.

Amazing stargazing, quiet and peaceful surrounding, fairly level for tent camping, cold temperatures, nice easy hikes, native bird sightings, spacious for a few families.

Location is unbeatable, definitely colder than we expected. Facilities were well maintained but the sites were indistinguishable from one another and couldn’t find a non-bumpy spot to sleep

Although the campsite parking is busy during the day and day hikers will use the picnic tables because there’s a nature hike right next to the area, it’s a great. Quiet at night, clean campsite and bathrooms. Was super convenient location for going up to Haleakala to see the stars at night and driving up for the sunrise. Nature hike by site is also beautiful, great for looking at plants and birds. Thank you to all the staff for maintaining such a beautiful park!

Great location on Maui with great tent and camper van sites. Clean facilities and close to Lahaina for a great sunset seafood lunch or dinner
