What Guests Are Saying

Hosmer Grove Campground offers a beautiful, quiet setting with stunning birdwatching opportunities and easy access to Haleakalā National Park. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly rangers, and the convenience of a nature trail nearby. However, the campground lacks running water, and some facilities show signs of neglect, with issues like limited level parking and unpleasant odors from bathrooms. Overall, it serves as a great base for experiencing the park's breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

Perfect location to camp if you’re going to see the sunrise at the summit. Beautiful hiking trails. Clean and well kept area.

The campsites here are close together with no cover between sites is my only complaint. They had water taps, picnic tables, flat spots for tents, and charcoal barbecues. The site is located right next to a forest with lots of rare tropical birds and the trails are clear, though might be a bit hard to navigate for people with knee problems because of roots.

Campground wonderful, sunrise and sunset wonderful, unfortunately rude/disrespectful staff ruined the experience.

My two daughters (ages 10 and 12) and I stayed at Hosmer’s Grove in July. It was very delightful. While the nature trail did being in a few visitors to explore the Trees, it was never packed. The temps were pleasant and ideal (high 50’s/low 60’s) in July. There are pit toilets close to the campground and the visitor center is close by should one need more… restroom facilities were opened all night. In addition to being able to watch the sunset and sunrise, the star show was insane!! Truthfully, I didn’t get much sleep due to the excitement of the fabulous stargazing the night of a new moon!
