What Guests Are Saying

Hosmer Grove Campground offers a beautiful, quiet setting with stunning birdwatching opportunities and easy access to Haleakalā National Park. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly rangers, and the convenience of a nature trail nearby. However, the campground lacks running water, and some facilities show signs of neglect, with issues like limited level parking and unpleasant odors from bathrooms. Overall, it serves as a great base for experiencing the park's breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

Its a great place to stay and get a heads up on going up to watch the sunrise. The campground has good facilities - however the parking spaces are separate and not level except one.

Great paved access road, potable water, and a nice grassy campsite. Can't beat the location, as this includes a reservation to the Haleakala sunrise. Was able to duck under the picnic canopy and cook on the charcoal grill during a heavy rainstorm.

Toilets were stingingly ammoniac and could use a better clean.

Such a great spot if you want to save time driving up to the top to see the sunset and sunrise. Campsite was clean, had seating, running water and clean bathrooms.

Beautiful spot. Was a bit chilly at night but we expected that. I highly recommend hiking in the crater nearby.

Beautiful and clean!
It was so quiet and peaceful. Very close to the summit for the sunrise and sunset in Maui. The alien forest trail starts there and it was Soo beautiful. This is a must stop in your trip in Maui. Highly recommended.

You are past the park entrance gate when at the campground so you don’t need the sunrise ticket to access the summit for sunrise.

The map online for site locations is a bit confusing. All sites are in a group. Well worth it so you can do both sunrise and sunset. Highly recommend!

We loved the location of this campsite. It was great to spend a cooler night here, it gave these Canadian people (us) some break from the hot nights. The trail behind this campsite attracted some people, but they were not bothering. I loved waking with the song of the birds, so beautiful!
Two washrooms were clean and there is running water, which is great. If you stay here, you don’t have to get a pass/ticket for the sunrise on Haleakala.
