What Guests Are Saying

Thompson Campground offers spacious, level spots at reasonable rates, making it suitable for short stays. However, some guests experienced safety issues, such as slippery concrete and electrical problems with hookups. Additionally, there are concerns about ticks in the area, so using bug spray is highly recommended for outdoor activities.

I stayed here at this RV campground for one night, on July 19, 2025. I camped in parking spot number one. The man on duty for registration told me that was one of the better spots and my 39 foot motorhome would fit in there. On the morning of July 20. I stepped out of my motorhome onto the concrete. What I was not expecting was to step down on the concrete and find slimy mud. My right leg went right. My left leg went left. My left knee went right and I banged it on the concrete.
All I can assume is it rain over the night and apparently the concrete is lower than the dirt around it. After cleaning myself up in their bathroom I got on the road and was heading home. I’ve been dealing with a store knee ever since I will be having an MRI done tomorrow and hopefully I find what’s wrong.
It’s a nice enough campground for a short stay, but they need to fix things to where it’s safe for people.

We camped at Thompson Campground in Moberly, MO for 5 nights at the end of June. We had an electrical issue that kept our ACs from running due to the breaker box on the sight. We required 50 amps, and it couldn't pull that much. They did get this issue resolved. They neglected to tell us that MO is the number one state for disease-causing ticks. As I walked my dogs, I received 30+ ticks bites within one day.. I resorted to just staying within 20 feet of the camper. However, it was too late. I now have Alpha-gal Syndrome from the local Texas Star Tick. I woke up with a rash and swelling on the second day I was there. We had access to a nurse, and she said 200 mg of Benadryl a day to keep me out of hospital. That worked, and I got tested, but I am now allergic to all mammal meat and its byproducts. My life and my health are now in jeopardy. My dogs went to vet and they said if this tick bit them they would show symptoms of paralysis in about 5 months. Were are waiting to see. Alpha-gal Sydrome may or may not go into remission after 2 years. It could be a life time of carrying an EpiPen and watching for sugar processed with, bone char and Natural flavorings. (which some are made from meat) No beef ,pork, lamb, goat etc. My heart meds are in jepordy. Nice campgroupd but use bug spray if you walk around.

Great campground. Makes you forget that you are in town. Wal-Mart is 10 minutes away.

We love this park and campground. We watch families ride the train while we camped. Last year was great. This year they aren't keeping up with the mowing at campground. The people who were next to us left it a mess. Dog poo and awful dumpster smell. They have been gone now for 3 days and they haven't cleaned it up. It just isn't the same. Sorry to say this. I don't know who mows the grounds but they should do it free.
