Large private sites. Quiet and peaceful. The outdoor pavillion was helpful.

There was a water main break during the winter that was not repaired when we visited in early June, so we did not have any bathrooms or showers! We were not notified of the issues prior to our stay. The host was sympathetic but unable to refund the fees we paid!

Nice campground in a good location near Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Unfortunately two of the main bathrooms were closed during my stay.

We love Buffalo Gap! Unfortunately, the flush toilets weren't working, but the dump station is! Also, the entire campground was in dire need to be mowed. It was very overgrown and not looking very good.

The campsite we utilize needs some renovation. The picking table was sunk and not level. Had to shim up my stove with a 2x4. Also the weeds could have been beaten back. The fact that this was a reservable campsite should have encouraged the camp host to provide a slight bit of maintenance prior to people utilizing this site. The bathrooms were down for renovation but the showers worked. Also this site is a very highly sloped location. All in all it was functional but this site needs some work

Arrived a little after 4 pm. The site reserved was supposed to be level, it wasn't. It had a big uphill to a small semi level spot. However, I couldn't unhook the hitch from the truck due to the slope. Talked to host about changing sites, he said no. So, I had to book another site at the same campground since USDA FS would not let me switch reserved site to another open site. Policy stinks, site descriptions are inaccurate. Better off just showing up without a reservation.

Buffalo Gap is one of our favorites. The sites are quiet in a wooded draw. Beautiful

It was a gorgeous area, but very poorly managed. I am a state park manager myself and I understand how important communication and upkeep is. Everything online shows that this campground is fully open for the season, but when we arrived everything was still winterized and there was only one potable water spigot (we are well past freezing temps at night, so things should be open.) The lift station light was left blinking and beeping the entire 3 days we were there. After talking with the campground host, he’s paying for minor repairs and supplies out of his own pocket and he can’t get ahold of anyone out of the regional office. I emailed the supervisor of the regional office to ask them why signage and website information was not updated, and a week later have yet to receive a response. To the USFS folks who manage this campground, you’re doing a very poor job.
