For people visiting the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Cottonwood Campground is a great place to stay. Located five miles (8 km) from the entrance to the South Unit of the park, the campground is open year-round. This is a beautiful little oasis of cottonwood trees in the valley. We enjoyed the gorgeous views all around us. Unfortunately, the campground could use some upgrades, including leveling out campsites and making sure there is adequate space. Our site was backward and tight against the road, so we had to maneuver our small motor home around to face the other way and struggled to get it level and still have safe clearance next to the road. Water and electricity would of course be a welcome addition too.
