First, I want to say Quentin Smith was a blessing. He took time to tell us about the campground and gave us a history lesson. The campground was beautiful, peaceful and for the most part clean. The trails and scenic drives were breathtaking. The camping spots were spacious and well cared for. We are already planning another trip when it is cooler. The only improvement needed is to have cool air set up for the bathrooms and showers in the summer. We loved it!

Doris Campground is an excellent, secluded area with clean campsites nicely separated among plenty of large trees. It provides a great place to camp while visiting the refuge and surrounding area. Our site (53) was a little challenging to get our Class A shoehorned into, but we managed. In the evenings, numerous deer, raccoon, armadillo, and of course squirrel, visited our site. The visitor center at the refuge is a must see - very well done. The refuge is large and beautiful - with elk, bison, longhorn, prairie dog and who knows what else visible as you drive through. A drive up Mount Scott was worth it. Wish we could have enjoyed it all longer. Mind you, sites have electric (actually ours was 50 amp), some water hydrants, a good dump station, but no T-Mobile cell coverage at the campground. It took us a while to find our site, but a stop at the visitor center as we arrived would have solved that issue.

We did a cross country road trip and this was one of our top campgrounds we stayed at. Very clean and sites offer good privacy. Beautiful trails surrounding the lake and bison in and around the campground. Unreal. This campground is in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge and offers amazing surroundings. We’ll be back.

We did a cross country road trip and this was one of our top campgrounds we stayed at. Very clean and sites offer good privacy. From I-44 take Highway 49 (exit 45). Go west 7 miles to the Refuge gate or 14 miles to the Visitor Center. If coming from Highway 62, take Highway 115 (Cache exit) north to the Refuge Gate.
Doris Campground is accessible via I-44 and Highway 49, with Highway 49 leading west for 7 miles to the Refuge gate. Additionally, Highway 62 is nearby, with Highway 115 providing access to the Refuge gate.
