We've stayed here a few times and always love it. Not as much wildlife as in the past. The prairie dog village in the pasture is gone. We didn't see badgers, foxes, coyotes, or eagles that used to prey on the prairie dogs. No elk this time. So, to my only complaint...raising the price to $165/night from $100/night feels excessive, especially since no improvements were made, except the new "outhouse" that I never use.

Enjoyed our stay here! On par with expectations for a simple cabin. Staff were communicative. Within reasonable distance of Flagstaff. Great place for birdwatching. Be sure to put away all of your food into the fridge to avoid any critters getting into it!

It’s one of our favorite escapes. We love how remote it feels, the beautiful meadows and lack of internet service. Makes for a very relaxing getaway.

Had a good time. Visited Sunset and Meteor Craters. Both in thier own way are a spectacular visit. Kayak the Colorado through Horseshoe Bend. Stood on the Corner also.

We had a wonderful time enjoying nature in the retired Forest Service Cabin in the woods. It was nearly as we remembered it 20 years ago. We wrote a long & detailed review, but this website requested us to “log in” again and our beautiful review was wiped out…. So in a nutshell, all is quite good! We hope to return again some day! Bye bye for now.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of year 22 and truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean. Hot water was great. The heater works well. Firewood was provided for free. We had a good amount of snow which made our stay even better. You should bring a snow chain if you visit the cabin during the winter season. The main road will be maintained so you may not need a snow chain. However, the access from the main road to the cabin is not maintained so if you do not have a chain that could be an issue. Internet is not available (which means that the cabin is in a quite remote location. Grand canyon is not far. We will come back later. My kids loved the entire experience that the cabin provided.

The cabin was easy to find. There was plenty of parking. The area surrounding the cabin is beautiful and was quiet for us. It was much cleaner than expected. A couple of field mice were dead in traps in the kitchen. No surprise there. There was plenty of firewood. We brought sleeping bags and just slept on top of the mattresses. Central heating was available. The shower was probably the most disappointing. The water drained very slowly so you ended up standing in a few inches of water. We spent time at the Grand Canyon and Williams. South rim visitor center is about 1 1/2 hrs drive from the cabin. Overall, great experience and we would stay there again.

The main cabin has two separate bedrooms. One with two sets of twin bunkbeds, the other has a queen size futon with one set of twin bunkbeds and a wood burning stove. The living room has one futon. With the potential of many people at the facility if the bunkhouse is also rented, there is a pit toilet a bit away from the cabins. There is a prairie dog town out in the meadow and every evening a cacophony of coyotes. Also meadow larks could be heard.
