Beaver Creek Cabin is a great place to base a winter trip. We love the cozy wood stove and being so close to miles and miles of cross country ski and snowshoe trails. The Smokey Bear curtains are a classic!

Had a lovely snow storm on the drive to the cabin. Both of our vehicles, (4x4 pickups), made it. Tire chains helped. Arrived after dark. Found the cabin in good shape until we got the stove fire going. The cabin filled with smoke, the alarms went off, and that's when we relived the stove pipe was not fully attached. Now that every part of the stove is hot as heck with the fire roaring, we had to reattach the stove pipe. We did a back woods patch job with some aluminum foil and mechanic wire. It worked! Outside of the stove pipe incident, the trip was great. Found the cabin very nice and clean. The propane lamps worked great and the cabin is stocked with plenty of fire wood and a splitting maul. The rest of our party came in the following day, (4x4 Jeep). It snowed on and off during our stay. Cleaned everything and emptied the stove of ash before leaving. We had a great time and plan returning in the spring. Thanks!

The facility and the surrounding grounds were exceptional. This is my second stay in this cabin. I snow-shoed into the cabin in the winter and then drove to the cabin in the summer. I would make two recommendations. 1) Recognizing that this is in somewhat of a wilderness area I would post several signs inside the cabin to encourage visitors to make sure they secure all of their food in containers that rodents cannot penetrate. 2). The directions to the cabin and signage is HORRIBLE! The mileage from Idaho City is not correct. I spent almost two hours trying to find the turnoff. There are numerous roads/trails that are marked with the same designation. My family and I turned around and were headed back to Eagle because we could not find the turnoff. I spotted one last trail with the designated number and turned around and we were so lucky that it was the correct one. Enthusiastically yours, KR Reinschmidt
