The cabin was very clean, new windows are a big improvement, porch was swept, and bathroom well-stocked. It seems, too, that the mattresses downstairs (maybe upstairs too), have been upgraded. Yay! Our only disappointment was discovering that wood is not supplied past April 30th. I don't know if this is a new policy or that we were at the cabin earlier than May 11th on our first trip (this time was our second). We now know to bring our own wood (purchase in nearby town). One last thing, following the directions on the room heater in the kitchen proved impossible for us. We gave up. Thanks for another great stay!

The cabin roof leaked during rain and we had a few days of rain. Leak was right above the kitchen sink and I did report it to the USFS. Also, the woodstove causes some severe smoke to infiltrate the cabin if it is not fired up very hot very quickly. Otherwise, it was a pretty typical USFS cabin trip with creaky bed frames, plastic covered mattresses, mismatched cooking gear and gorgeous views.

The meadow next to the river is great for xC skiing & snowshoeing. Saw moose, lynx, and other tracks.

This is my favorite Forest service cabin - but don't tell anyone about it! Amazing views, very comfortable couch with a gorgeous wood burning fire and it was left very nice and tidy for us! Also some great walks down to the river straight from the cabin. We hope to stay again soon!

Wonderful place even on a completely socked in rainy day. Spent our time between the front porch and the wood stove. Hope to visit again in fair weather.
