About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. Corinth is a beautiful campground with large secluded campsites. We love coming here at least once a year. The campground is always clean and the sites are well kept. If you want a quiet place to relax, this is the place that come.

Tent camping alone or with others, I feel very safe - this is the 4th time I have stayed here. The staff circulates throughout the day and night, is very friendly and helpful. the campground is very clean and kept natural looking. The restrooms clean and the water is nice and hot at the shower and the sinks.

Great no-frills campground, clean showers, nicest sewer hookup I’ve seen, 1-2 bars TMobile. Many sites have a view of the lake, through bare trees. I came to hike the forest and this is a great location to stay. Check yourself and pets for ticks, I had 2 on days I didn’t leave the campground, no ticks on the days I hiked.
My only complaint would be the three large potholes at the entrance, no way to avoid hitting at least one. I really enjoyed my stay at Corinth campground.

  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • THE SWIM AREA IS CLOSED IT WILL OPEN MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Alcohol is not allowed in Recreation Area. Campground has a two tent maximum per single site. Two vehicles for campers only are included in the site fee. There is a $10 fee for additional vehicles and visitors that will be collected at the campground. Entrance office hours are Mon - Thur 12 pm to 4 pm and Friday - Sunday 9 am to 5 pm., . The Day Use Area is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. After-hours access is available by calling ahead, (205) 300-1513. Office hours vary August to October please call ahead. Day Use closes after Labor Day.To see what our campground has to offer you can tour it Monday - Thursday during office hours. A $10 refundable fee if you are out within 30 minutes.
