About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. A separate boat launch is available to the campground.   Welcome to the Corinth Recreation Area...   Use the Recreation.gov Mobile App. Visitors on-the-go can use the Recreation.gov mobile app to reserve and pay for upcoming stays, reducing the need for on-site transactions and cash handling. Camp sites were very nice and spacious. Most in our group found the sites to be very level as well. The kids would have enjoyed some sort of playground, but made do with the trails. The play field was cut well. Had to watch for the ant hills and a few small holes. Overall I think we'll probably go back in the future.

Campground is amazing! We stayed on Yellowhammer loop, and the site was well leveled and the hookups were well maintained, including the sink with drain set into the ground for the sewer! Host was friendly and attentive to the campground itself. We will definitely stay here again.

Kind of a partial review because this is our go to camping destination, but, we'll list the reasons why. Always clean. All of it. The sites, the showerhouses, the beach, the roadways, toilets, showers, overflow area, etc., etc. You can tell that the folks that maintain the place take a lot of pride in the appearance and overall maintenance of the entire recreation area, not just the camping areas. Staff is very easy to work with, polite, professional, and courteous. They have items on hand for sale that will cover the little forgotten things, i.e. beach towels, firewood, ice. As mentioned at the beginning of this review, this is now our got to place to camp. We have a 21' fish 'n' ski plus a 27' fifth wheel and there are numerous sites on Yellowhammer loop that are large enough to accommodate all of our toys. There is also an overflow area that is large enough for boats, vehicles, etc. We used to travel to Panama City or Gulf Shores but haven't been there in several years since finding this little jewel. Overall, for boating and camping, the best campground that we've found to stay. BTW, there is a GREAT grocery store 15 minutes from the campground, in Double Springs, that has the most amazing deli. Everything from salads that are always fresh to sandwiches to sides to dessert items. There are both historical and natural attractions nearby as well - Old Houston Jail, Oldest church in the state, Natural Bridge, etc. We have had nothing but pleasant experiences at Corinth and stay there at least 3 to 4 times each year. You absolutely can't go wrong with this campground!

As always it is well kept, very clean and nice, staff are friendly. The only request I would make is to repair the old swimming area as it was in the 1980's where you could walk the trails from the campground, I have always noticed when we are camping no one is at the newer swimming area.
The beauty is still there and we still try to walk the old trails that holds such great memories and I do believe it would bring in even more people who like us remember when... And the newer swimming has pea gravel which hurt peoples feet and i think that is why they stopped comming to swim. I understand the problem wake boats can cause but just add a larger No Wake area to keep sand on beaches.
Camp hosts are great!!!

Great, large campsites with full hookup. Beautiful lake. However, Firefly loop restrooms were closed due to covid. Doesn't make sense to us why make all campers use one restroom in Yellow Hammer loop. Just made more people go to one place.

My family and I love the time that we get to spend together! It seems like time slows down on the lake! Our children and grandchildren swam and we all got out and walked! We are making memories that will last a lifetime!!!
