About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. A separate boat launch is available to the campground.   Welcome to the Corinth Recreation Area...   Use the Recreation.gov Mobile App. Visitors on-the-go can use the Recreation.gov mobile app to reserve and pay for upcoming stays, reducing the need for on-site transactions and cash handling. IT RAINED THE ENTIRE WEEK WE WERE THERE. OUR CAMPSITE WAS PRETTY MUCH A MUDHOLE THE ENTIRE TIME. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL LAKE, JUST VERY CONFUSING ABOUT GETTING ACCESS.

Stay in the Firefly area was great. Bathroom was clean and all outer areas were trimmed and kept pretty tidy with exception of the trail that runs between the Firefly and Yellow hammer campgrounds. That trail was noticeable but overgrown with Virginia creeper so hiking was not an option without long pants socks and closed toed shoes or boots. Ticks were also very bad.
In spite of these issues, the stay was none-the-less great with no issues. I highly recommend Corinth.

The hosts are great and the bathrooms are super clean! We stayed at site 14 with a tent and it was very nice and well shaded. Its very peaceful and quite throughout the campground. We will definitely be back in the future. Rain or shine we loved it there. Spacious in some spots and others seemed to be a little crowded but ive seen worse. All together its AWESOME!

We took our 3 year old camping at a tent site for the first time. It was wonderful! The camp site was beautiful and well kept. The water was great for swimming and fishing. We found some really cool spots while there. We will definitely be back!

The campground is peaceful and quiet. The bathhouses are spotless. The campsites are level and were well placed when the layout was conceived. This is my favorite campground! Never had a bad experience here.

Very very very nice experience, I really have to give props to the maintenance crew there, everything was clean, bathhouse was always top notch. The only regret about going there is leaving! If you go, please book a dismalite tour in Phil Cambell. Its really amazing and only a few places in the world to experience it. Look it up and find out for yourself!

Great area with super nice camp host. The trails need to be better marked. Peaceful place during the week. Large sites and good shade. Bathhouse was clean and warm shower. Would stay again. Beware of massive tick problem.

Very nice full hookup campground. Host extremely friendly. Tall fire pits are unusable if you just want to sit and enjoy a fire.

Great site with a view of the lake, just beyond the woods. The hookups were excellent, there was a nice fire pit, and it was a quiet, relaxing few days. The rain kept us from going out much, and the bathhouse was okay.
