About Corinth Recreation Area

The Corinth Recreation Area is a state-of-the art campground located on the on the shores of the upper part of Lewis Smith Lake in Winston County. Initially built in the 1960s and renovated in 1998 it offers facilities for individual and group camping, picnicking, swimming, and boat launching.   Check-out time for Corinth is no later than 12:00pm the day of departure. Check-in time is no earlier than 2:00pm. This 2 hour window allows our staff adequate time to clean and maintain each site. Two camping loops contain 52 campsites, with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are four bathhouses, with warm showers, serving the camping areas. A boat ramp is provided for campers. An entrance station with an electronic gate is available to control access to the campground. Corinth also offers eight rustic tent camping sites with nearby community hydrants and a bathhouse. No garbage bins are in the campground; users are required to pack out trash and deposit it in the dumpsters by the dump station.  ADA accessible sites are available.  The day use portion of the recreation area focuses on the swimming beach, served by a bathhouse with an outdoor beach shower. Twenty-nine family picnic sites are available nearby, and paved access paths connect all. Near the beach is a 100-person group picnic pavilion, with a flush toilet that serves both it and a portion of the picnic sites. A 1.25-mile hiking path is located along the shoreline of the lake. A year-round boat launch is available, with an SST vault toilet; and it has boat/trailer parking. A separate boat launch is available to the campground.   Welcome to the Corinth Recreation Area...   Use the Recreation.gov Mobile App. Visitors on-the-go can use the Recreation.gov mobile app to reserve and pay for upcoming stays, reducing the need for on-site transactions and cash handling. The way the cost is divided. All other places give half price with senior card. This is the most expensive place now. I can camp other places for $11-14 per night.

We have always loved Corinth in fact, it’s one of our favorite campgrounds, but this time was different. We had reserved two campsites because my sister and her two daughters planned to come up and camp with us. We have an RV and a pick up. We knew there was a two vehicle limit so that’s why we got the extra campsite. The girls came in two cars and my sister had a car. Later on my son surprised us by coming up and parked by the girls (they didn’t have an RV or anything). The host told my son he needed to move his car and asked the girls why they didn’t have a tent up. They said they were going to sleep in their SUV’s. She told them they couldn’t do that and called the office where she was informed that it would be fine. But she told me soon to move his car to overflow and pay $10, so we called to get the campsite up the street for my son. As we were taking the office said they just got word from our host the campsite was reserved, so my son said he was just going to leave. He had paid the $10 for overflow and when he asked for a refund, the host called the office again and asked what to do about refunding his debit card. The woman at the office asked (on speaker)” Is this the group with all the cars? Just get them out of there! Get them out of there!”SERIOUSLY. We are a very nice, quiet camping family and were so proud to have our grown kids (28, 29 and 30) camping with us! 5 vehicles- one extra-and we were the group with all those vehicles who they wanted to get out of there. 😢

One of our favorite campgrounds! Spacious, shaded sites, full hookups, clean bathhouse and grounds, lots to do at the campground and nearby in the Bankhead/Sipsey areas.

This campground was a recent discovery and we will definitely visit again. Located on Smith Lake, it’s water oriented but we were there the last few days in October, just before it closed. Fishermen but didn’t see any swimmers. Beautiful fall colors and not too many campers. Hiked in woods and on park roads. Quiets and saw few people. Campsites are nicely spaced. Workers very friendly.

We've been coming here for several years and always enjoy it. The grounds of the park was in very good shape, looks like they've done some work this year.
I was they would stay open longer, at least till the end of November. This is some of the best camping weather.

I really enjoyed the large site and privacy. Very quiet as it was the last weekend in October but still a beautiful park. Would like to return in the summer and take advantage of the lake and beach area.
