This is our most favorite COE campground. Almost every site is waterfront and shady. Staff is responsive and keeps an eye on everything.

Staff were informative, friendly, and helpful. Sites are spacious, and it was easy to level up our 25’ RV. We stayed the end of March and needed no reservations, with many campsites to choose from. The campground and restroom/bathhouses, while a bit outdated, are kept up and clean.
And with the National Park Senior Pass, our 2 night FHU site was $16, a night, and the 5 night water and electric site was $13 a night. Maybe the only downside (or upside, depending on your point of view), the AC campgrounds are usually not near any large cities for groceries, etc. So come prepared. Up to 14 consecutive night stays.
We’ve come to very much appreciate AC Campgrounds! Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Hosts were nice, bathrooms were clean with lots of hot water. Sights do not have sewer, but that’s not a big deal for us. Our site (48) was right on the creek bank and was clean. Just be sure to bring what you need, as there is not a Walmart or laundromat nearby. Nearest DG was 9 miles. No convenience stores, no gas.

We enjoy camping at our local (within 3 hour drive) camping facilities on a regular basis. Prairie Creek is on our list of favorites. It is well maintained and staffed with friendly and helpful people that are themselves campers. Prairie Creek being on the Alabama river is a plus for any hunters, fishermen or just boat riders. The sites are level and easy to get in and out. And the bathhouses are always clean and kept warm in the winter I can wholeheartedly recommend Prairie Creek as a great place to land in the woods for however long you may like.
