We really enjoyed caming at Gunter Hill, with great sites. The ADA restroom could use an upgrade on Catoma.

Gunter Hill Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and well-maintained sites that offer privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the helpful staff and convenient amenities, making it a favored stop during travels. While some noted minor issues with customer service and bathroom conditions, the overall experience is highly positive, with a strong likelihood of return visits.

Wonderful campground. Beautiful scenery. Fantastic campground attendants! The only downside was the late night / early morning sulfur smells from the paper mill. We would definitely come here again!!

Nice park. Level concrete parking pads with FHU at an inexpensive price.

This campground is everything you want it to be. Many large pull-through sites, lots of woods, lots of space for each site. A small playground for the children, but older kids would probably enjoy biking or walking around. It is set very far back from the main road and while we were there in the winter and there were not stock car races, I can see why you might be able to hear the races while they are happening.
Literally, the only issue is the bathhouses. There are two in the Catoma loop; both are old and poorly maintained. They are dirty, and after watching how little attention the cleaning crew gave each bathhouse, I'm not surprised. I recognize how little I paid for this campground, but I feel more than 5 minutes should have been spent giving the bathhouses their weekly cleaning, my other experiences with other government-run campgrounds are that the bathhouse are in much better shape than here.
We did use the laundry machines. Those were free to use and clean.

Super helpful staff at the gate; clean sites; well maintained. Would definitely return when we have more time to enjoy the cg and lake.
