Gunter Hill Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and well-maintained sites that offer privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the helpful staff and convenient amenities, making it a favored stop during travels. While some noted minor issues with customer service and bathroom conditions, the overall experience is highly positive, with a strong likelihood of return visits.

I will avoid this campground in the future. The camp host was very rude and even threatened to call the police and have our tent removed from the campground because we did not immediately check in with him when we arrived. We had paid in advance and had to set up our tent quickly before having to depart the campground for a little while. We got a call from the camp host asking us when we will arrive. When we informed him that we had already paid for the campsite and would not be back before he was off for the evening, he became very rude and threatened to call the police and remove our tent if we did not return before his shift ended. We have never experienced this kind of rude behavior by a camp host and would never return to any campground that he is a camp host for.

If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway close to home, Gunter Hill Campground is hard to beat.
We spent a week here and absolutely loved it. Our campsite was spacious, private, and surrounded by beautiful trees draped with Spanish moss. It felt like we were tucked away in our own little piece of nature while still having all the conveniences of a well-maintained campground.
The grounds were clean, quiet, and well cared for. We spent our days relaxing around camp and our evenings gathered around the fire, making memories with family. The atmosphere was exactly what camping should be—peaceful, relaxing, and a great escape from the everyday hustle.
The staff was friendly, the facilities were clean, and the entire campground had a welcoming feel. Whether you’re staying for a weekend or a full week like we did, Gunter Hill is a place you’ll want to come back to.
Five stars from our family. We can’t wait for our next trip!
