Camp sites were excellent as usual. Only complaint was that the insects got to be unbearable. I hope they plan on doing something to help control them in the near future.

Gunter Hill Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and well-maintained sites that offer privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the helpful staff and convenient amenities, making it a favored stop during travels. While some noted minor issues with customer service and bathroom conditions, the overall experience is highly positive, with a strong likelihood of return visits.

The restrooms and bath were always clean and well-stocked. The man at the gate was so welcoming and fun! I love the large campsites. I think this may be my favorite campground!

Sites are nice and big. Campground was extremely quiet. Bath houses were clean. Only complaint was the mosquitoes were really bad and we couldn’t sit outside without being attacked by them.

We stayed for two weeks. About halfway through our stay, some campers came in one afternoon and their dog barked non-stop the entire afternoon til I couldn't take it anymore and called the camp host. She said they couldn't do anything until after 10pm, but she agreed to call the owner and let them know there were complaints about their dog. Apparently, she did, because the barking was kept under control afterwards for the rest of the time we were there. If you are bothered by uncontrolled barking as I am (major pet peeve), find their site # and call the office to register a complaint. And dog owners PLEASE control your dog's barking. Some people cannot stand that and it can ruin their camping experience!
Other than that one incident, it is a very peaceful, quiet and relaxing campground. Most sites are very spacious and lots of shade. Sites are large and level concrete. FHU. Two bathroom buildings. One has laundry, but the machines did not work. Maybe they'll get fixed by the time you get there. Great place to kayak, though you will probably need to use the boat ramp. We enjoyed riding our ebikes around the campground loops.
It is not far from I-65 and alot of campers use it as a stop-over while traveling.
