Gunter Hill Campground is praised for its beautiful, spacious, and well-maintained sites that offer privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the helpful staff and convenient amenities, making it a favored stop during travels. I have been going to Gunter Hill Campground for more than ten years and the only complaint I have is with the two paved areas that have badly deteriorated. The first is in front of site #1, and the worst is by site#30. The dirt is even coming through this pothole.

The campground was good. We stayed in the Catoma loop and enjoyed a really large level site. The campground and bathhouses haven’t been well maintained and could use updating. We launched our kayaks from the boat launch which required driving around to the other loop (which was closed). Unfortunately, we couldn’t find anywhere good to launch closer to our campsite. There are only a couple sites in the Catoma loop where you can access the water from your campsite. Campsite 27 looked like it had the best pathway to the water. We noticed some campsites in the other loop that had stairs down to the water. The main trail has a bridge that is out, so you can’t go very far before you have to turn around. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but wish the facilities got some updating and the bridge was fixed.
