Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the convenience of boat access, although some express concerns about noise from a nearby paper mill and the need for improved maintenance, especially regarding the boat ramp and site cleanliness. We had site #62 and it was, in my opinion, the site with the best view, in the whole park. The sunrises were perfection. We had never visited this park and based our decision to visit on other reviews. The internet reception is nonexistent. We have both Verizon and T-Mobile. We were able to watch short video streaming but there was a lot of buffering for long form videos like movies, and it was impossible internet reception to work from. We were forced to leave early because we work from the road and could not log into our systems properly. The sound from the nearby paper mill sounded eerily like the alien sound from the War of World movie starring Tom Cruise or sometimes like a far off thunderstorm. It didn't bother us though but it was a consistent sound. I read other reviews that the smell from the factory was overwhelming but we did not experience that. We did get a whiff or two of the paper mill but nothing ongoing. If this park could get better internet reception we would definitely visit again. The camp host was very friendly and helpful.

The camp volunteers were great, the facilities were kept very clean and the campsites were very well kept. We especially enjoyed the fish cleaning facility, it was top notch and made it easy for us to clean our fish after dark. Our only complaint was the noise from the paper factory that operated 24/7 nearby. Although when we were inside our camper, it didn't keep us awake, it certainly detracted some from the beauty of the campground when we were taking walks..

Threat dirt at the gate was extremely helpful. She helped me get a little closer to the restrooms. The campsites were level very well. Anointed with all your needs, and the views were incredible. Definitely stay again.

THIS IS THE PRIVATE REVIEW (I typed everything below on the wrong page). I want to give the gal who works the front gate/campground host a TWENTY STAR THANK-YOU!!! We spoke by phone earlier in the day when I told her that I would be a late arrival. She came back after her dinner to wait for me. I was so thankful. Please pass along how sweet and caring she is!! The campground and facilities are nice and the secluded location on the river is special - but it’s such a shame the paper mill (West Rock) assaults the eyes, ears and nose. It dominated my experience, I’m sad to say.

The park itself is great. Beautiful scenery right on the river. Everything was clean and very well kept and we felt safe the whole time. We stayed at Site 62 right on the corner of the creek and the river. There were guys catching catfish down at the seawall which was quite entertaining to watch.
I can only give it 3 stars because of the paper plant at the adjacent property. We were there December 31 thru January 2 and they never stopped. It was 24 hours a day with the tress being ground into pulp and the equipment running. I can't imagine what it must sound like for the people working there given that we were probably a mile away. I'm not exaggerating here, they worked right through New Years, all night long and I haven't gotten to the smell. It was terrible! It came in waves with the wind but when it hit it was enough to make you sick. I basically had a low grade headache from the smell the whole time. Then we left the park and went south to cross back into Georgia to tour Providence Canyon State Park and drove past and the workers there were all on strike with police and signs and the whole bit. It tainted the experience even more.
