Our second visit to Service Park campground, west of Coffeeville, AL, on US Hwy 84. Beautiful sites along the Tombigbee River. 30+ sites, with 9 being pull-thru. Easily fit our HDT, 5th wheel and Jeep (site 11). Peaceful, quiet setting. Verizon signal was good. (Tough to get satellite signal or OTA channels, but who cares!) Great camp hosts.

Service Park is an especially quiet campgrounds except the river barge traffic. But most folk enjoy watching them go by!! However, they really make the concept of "Quiet Time" a bit hazy. Campgrounds is set in a lowland wonder zone full of exotic plants and animals such as hawks, alligators, multiple colored squirrels, coyotes, lizards, and of course snakes. Summers are hot ad muggy but the locals who frequent it this time of year are great folks and you will see on a regular basis. It is located just off US Hwy 84 which is part of the old Chisolm Trail. The Choctaw Indian musuem is just west of the park near the town of Silas, AL. Also a great fishing spot and it ain't too far to shopping so Momma has something do and get groceries in case Dad doesn't hook one. Park is clean but good use a like TLC, it has the potential to be a really beautiful park except COE doesn't have the funding to keep it that way these days. Still the price is right at $26.00 a night! Good hot showers, too!

Outstanding park hosts. The site was clean and ready for us when we got there. They even called to tell us it was ready. Only thing I wish is that this park would stay open in December and early spring. It is very nice.

This is our favorite campground. It is always quiet and clean. It's worth the three-hour drive to stay at Service. The only complaint this time is that one of the hosts did not blow the leaves off our site for us.
And that is not a problem. They just did it the last three times we stayed. I guess we were spoiled.
I recommend this camp to anyone.

Service is a very nice, quiet campgrounds but could use a little more TLC from the Corps of Engineers and its volunteer camp hosts, especially the shower house and grounds. However if you are willing to overlook a less than very clean, well stocked shower house Service Park is great place to spend the night, week or month!

Fantastic stay. Hosts were all v friendly. They call to let you know when your site is ready. Met us and directed us to our site when we got there. Sites and all facilities are well-maintained. So much fun to watch the barges as well as The Loopers on the river.
