Eklutna Lake & Campground is a popular place to walk, ski, 4 wheel, kayak, etc for many Alaskans. The parking area can easily fill up fast. And after Sept 1 you don't have to pay the parking fee if $5. It takes credit cards only??? Same for camping sites in the summer. It's a 10 mile drive in from the highway on a very narrow road without a shoulder. If you visit this area plan on having 3 hours to explore the area.

Eklutna Lake Campground is hands-down my favorite stop on my week-long Alaska road trip. Waking up early to fog rolling over the lake while fly fishing felt like stepping into a painting—breathtaking, peaceful, and totally worth leaving my phone behind (no cell service, but who needs it with views like this?). If you love serene mornings, misty water, and a little slice of wilderness magic, this is the spot. I’d happily camp here a hundred times over!

I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you are in Alaska and have access to your own paddleboard equipment, I would absolutely recommend paddling here. Even though the water is chilly, the views are just beyond breathtaking, and the water is exceptionally clean. This was by far the best paddle I have ever done.

Had a lovely stay in early May 25. The main camp was still closed, so used the overflow camping. Only us and another couple. Only one restroom open. No cell service and water from the pump. Loved it.

Great place to see Alaska. RV, hike, bike, kayak or mountain climb. Hike or bike along the lake, easy but long the entire trail is 12 miles along lake, out and back, and 32 miles out and back if you go to the end. We saw the bears up close! The lake vistas are stunning and the mountains at the end are also, we biked it. Mountain climbing, We hiked twin peaks to the lake view which was a moderate hike with lots of forest hiking with better view at end, 6 miles out and back 2500 feet of elevation. We continued up to the summit which was hard to extreme and very cardio, glad I had hiking poles. At the very top three view of the lake and mountain ranges was one of best,10 total miles 5000 feet of elevation.
