As always, a nice escape. Cabin is generally well maintained, but bring your own wood or a good saw (there's a bow saw and big axe out there, but they're not in the best of shape). Plenty of dead spruce snags once you get off trail a bit.

Eleazar's is a great cabin in a beautiful site. For skiiers, it's a relatively straightforward 12-mile ski from the trailhead. After the last mile--all uphill--we were ready to fire up the woodstove and relax. On previous two-night stays in this cabin we've take a day to ski part of the way to Borealis--LeFevre or Moose Creek, but this year it was 20 below so we just relaxed around the cabin. There is firewood in an old burn just beyond the last corner before the cabin, but it takes a bit of work to get through the snow to it.
Thank you BLM for such a nice trail system and set of cabins in the Whites!

Took snowmachines in from MP 42.5 and was a beautiful ride in. Cabin was clean and stocked with cooking burner and lamps.

The White Mountains cabin system is an incredible resource and makes for amazing backcountry winter adventures in the interior. Their success is due to the hardworking rec planners at the BLM, and the respect and work contribution of cabin users.

Traveling north from Fairbanks, take the Steese Highway on through Fox. There is a trailhead at Milepost 42 and 57 of the Steese Highway to access some of the cabins. Traveling north on the Elliott Highway from Fox, there are two trailheads at Milepost 28 and 57 of the Elliott Highway to access the White Mountains from the west side. For further information contact BLM district office.
The campground is accessible via the Steese Highway and Elliott Highway, both of which are significant routes in the area. The Steese Highway has trailheads at Milepost 42 and 57 for accessing the cabins.
