Windfall Lake Cabin

This cabin is such a gem. It was left in excellent condition, even with a bit of firewood to take off the chill while we waited for the propane heat to kick in. Propane tank was recently filled. Trail conditions were good (I did use my spikes most of the way in and back just for extra safety.) Lake is still frozen tho I wouldnt take a chance going out on it; however, we encountered a guy heading out to ice fish as we were on our way back.

The trail and the cabin were in great shape, and the new deck is beautiful. The heater worked well!

Heater worked great, just wish the timer for it lasted longer than 6 hours so you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to reset it. There was a note on the fireplace from recent renters saying they had some problems with it, so we didn't use it. The outhouse was without TP. Otherwise it was a great trip, comfortable cabin!

Windfall cabin is one of our family's favorite recreational cabins. The hike is an easy, pleasant 3 mi walk in the forest. The new bridges are sturdy and appreciated. Once at the cabin, the view of lake lovely and peaceful.

We absolutely love this cabin. Great all year round!!

Best hike and cabin on the Juneau road system!

Propane heat was simple to operate and effective.

The heater did not function. It was ~10 degrees F outside.

Three of us rented the Windfall Lake cabin in mid August 2019. The bridge was being replaced on the main trail. But we chartered a float plane and were looking forward to some peaceful times on the lake without day trippers. The cabin was good with a nice dock and a canoe. The lake was pristine and a perfect outdoor setting. Unfortunately, the constant overflights of helicopters ruined the peace and quiet every 20 minutes. It was so annoying that we considered calling the airlines on a satellite phone to pick us up earlier. I would not recommend anyone to stay at Windfall Lake cabin. The Juneau helicopter tours have ruined it.
