Great location including boat access, protected site, and view! Wood supply was good. Whales and seals were seen on the boat ride and two large bears eating grass near the cabin who kept their distance and kept us on our toes!

8” of ice more than 1 mile from the cabin so couldn’t even get to it.

I know this cabin well and it is always a treat to visit.. My only recommendation is there was little to know firewood and what was there, was too wet..

The cabin was clean and tidy. The only downside was that the available firewood was fairly wet. It might be a good idea for the Sitka Ranger district to put their aluminum drop-bow boats to use and replenish the woodshed with some seasoned rounds of firewood.

Cabin was in great shape.
Plenty of wood, stove worked well.
Chilly Nov deer hunt. Had to break ice in the morning.

Loved the cabin and the location. Saw bears, swam in the ocean. Cabin was neat and clean and plenty of wood - thank you Forest Service! The only negative was that 3 small yachts anchored right in the bay in front of us. We were looking for wilderness experience so it was disappointing to have other people especially considering they could have Anchored in one of the neighboring bays instead.

Accessible year round, weather permitting. Located 48 air miles north of Sitka, within Hoonah Sound on the north end of Moser Island, north of Peril Strait. Access from Sitka is 30 minutes by floatplane, or 2 hours by boat. For geographic features surrounding the cabin, refer to USGS topographic map Sitka C-6.
Please consult local tide tables before departing for the cabin.

General
- This facility is located in an extremely remote and wild area; before making a reservation, become aware of bear, water, and weather safety (including cold)
- Recreating in Alaska can present both obvious and hidden dangers; please be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for extended stays due to occasionally poor weather
- Cabin not maintained during the winter; firewood may be scarce
- Treat or boil stream water before drinking
- All garbage and food must be packed out

- Learn more about the Tongass National Forest
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by purchasing firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- The invasive European Green Crab (EGC) has been found in southern Southeast Alaska and is suspected to be in more locations on the Tongass National Forest. Please actively look for and report EGC to help map the distribution and contribute to management.
