The campground is beautiful, every place is nicely secluded and private, equipped with grills and picnic tabless, the only thing that is missing is some shelter so there is no shade - that can be inconvenient, especially in hot temperatures, so keep that in mind. There are vault toilets, which were clean. In night you can see the stars very nicely and it is totally quiet. The sunset was really beautiful too. There are also cool trails starting from the campground. No coverage.

Well-maintained campground that provided a unique experience. All the signage alerting visitors about migrants and smugglers in the area made it a tad less relaxing, but in the end it was a peaceful night.

The solitude and seclusion compared to the larger campground to the south is absolutely wonderful. Wonderful tent spot for a 2p tent behind some creosote. Very quiet and great scenery.

There is no road sign along the highway for the Alamo Canyon Road
- Alamo Canyon Road is located at milepost 65.5 on the east side of AZ State Route 85, on the north side of the concrete bridge that crosses Alamo Wash. Alamo Canyon Campground is located at the end of the Alamo Canyon Road. The road is a three-mile graded dirt road suitable for most cars.
- From the North (Phoenix): take I-10 East to AZ SR 85 south. Or, take I-10 east to AZ SR 347 south, to AZ 238 west, to AZ SR 85 south.
- From the East (Tucson): take AZ SR 86 to Why, then turn left on AZ SR 85, heading south.
- From the West (Yuma/California): follow I-8 to Gila Bend or I-10 to Buckeye, to AZ SR 85 south.
- From the South (Sonoyta, Mexico): travel north towards Lukeville, AZ on Mexico Rt. 2. Once across the border into the United States, continue north onto AZ SR 85.
Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground is accessible via AZ State Route 85, which is located approximately 3 miles from the campground at milepost 65.5. Major access roads include I-10 and I-8, which connect to AZ SR 85 for travelers from various directions.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
