Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground is a beautiful and secluded site with only four campsites, offering a peaceful atmosphere perfect for stargazing and hiking. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean vault toilets and picnic tables, though it lacks shade. Visitors appreciate the stunning scenery, unique experience, and the quiet solitude compared to larger campgrounds.

We spent two nights at Alamo campground and thoroughly enjoyed the location. With only 4 sites it was a unique experience. We hiked up the the ruins of the tiny family settlement, and did some bird watching and photography in the wash. It was very windy at night but the sunsets were amazing!

A great, end of the road spot for camping. Only four spots and an (clean) outhouse. The people I met were friendly and most of them had been coming to the same spot for years. There's a trail head at the camp that goes up the canyon and It's about 6 or 8 mi to the visitor center and many other trails. When I was there it got windy a couple of nights so if your in a tent make sure you can stake it down.
Lots of stars!

I wish other campers would realize that in a small campground, talking loudly really interferes with the peace and quiet of this beautiful campgrounds.

Alamo Canyon is a very beautiful place to camp. I've stayed there often over almost 40 years. This year we were VERY DISTURBED my the constant noise of fighter jets. It waS JARRING. We had hardly a moment of peace; and I'm sure it further destroys wildlife habitat. And please, don't give me that nonsense about being the "sound of freedom.'"
