About Kellner Group Campground

Kellner Group Site is nestled at the base of the beautiful Pinal Mountains south of Globe, Arizona. Several picnic areas are separeted from the larger group area creating a semi-secluded setting. This site's interesting rock walls and steps were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It sits in the riparian area of Kellner Canyon, which frequently has a small stream running through it following winter runoff.

There’s a great central area for your group to gather, then several small sites with their own picnic tables scattered around. The creek was cool, tadpoles, frogs. The bathroom was immaculately clean and not too stinky for being a non-flush. We did encounter two snakes (one venomous), scorpions farther out on trails, and a tarantula, non of which bothered us. We had 7 cars (6 midsize suvs, one sedan) and they fit just fine. We all had at least one bar of mobile, various carriers. Overall it was a great place for our group!

We had an overnight youth activity there. The site was in perfect and pristine condition. We had ample room for our cars and tents. I would highly recommend this site to any group.

The campground is located approximately 5 miles southwest of Globe, which is accessible via US Highway 60. From Globe, travelers can take Jess Hayes Road to reach Icehouse Canyon Road.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

General

  • Weather is more often ideal in the fall and spring. The area is at an elevation of 4,400 ft. and may receive snow during a winter storm. The summer months are warm but tolerable, with the temperature ranging from 85-105 degrees.

Safety & rules

  • Expect thunderstorms and potential flash flooding during July and August due to Arizona's monsoon season.
  • No trash service is provided; please pack out what you pack in.

Wildlife & food storage

  • Be aware of bears and wildlife; familiarize yourself with avoidance practices.

Site capacity

  • The group area can accommodate a maximum of 25 people.

Utilities

  • This site does not provide water or electrical hookups.

Vehicles & parking

  • The road to the campground is in poor condition; passenger vehicles are not recommended.
  • The parking area is limited; trailers are not recommended.

  • A special use permit may be needed for events or charging fees; contact the Globe Ranger District for details.

Fires & fuel

  • To prevent pests, do not move firewood; obtain it locally and burn it on-site.
