What Guests Are Saying

Koomer Ridge Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting with well-maintained sites and easy access to hiking trails in the Red River Gorge. Most visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, clean facilities, and friendly hosts who are eager to assist. However, some guests noted issues with broken amenities and difficulty contacting the campground host, which detracted from their overall experience.

Our campsite was filled with bees and poison ivy surrounded the area.

Campground host never answers the phone or the door to buy firewood. Water in the shower was shut off the last day we were there and not very clean. Only 1 sink and 1 of the 3 showers were broken.

Great campground however we were never able to get a hold of the host. We tried the number that was left many times over a 2 day period. We never got an answer or a call back regarding the messages we left.

Lovely campground. Important note - DO NOT use the campsite map to pick a spot -it's quite misleading. For example, it shows site #34 alone on the loop - it is not - there are 6-7 sites on that loop. They post an actual map on site (which doesn't help reserving on line), so am not sure why it can't be uploaded to the site. It has nice location for hiking trails, and we went in August and there were virtually no mosquitos. Some sites have better firepit equipment than others (e.g., site 34's grate was useless). Most of the site are not very private, they are close to other sites and it was mostly full when we went, but everyone in our area was very respectful of sound and space. Main bathrooms were nice.

Very nice campground. Tent sites were flat and nice distance from neighbors. Never felt cramped. Campgrounds were well maintained and quiet. Bathhouse was actually really nice with nice hot showers. Able to get out to really challenging trails from campsite. Close to Miguel's Pizza and Daniel Boone Coffee shop. Beautiful scenery. Cheap campfire wood nearby. Great stay. Already planning for next visit.

A beautiful setting with large shady campsites. Great base for visiting the Red River Gorge. Multiple trailheads within the campground.

Everything was great and I actually liked that my site was slightly elevated. A few nights had some isolated rain showers and I never had to deal with any mud or puddles. I definitely recommend it and it was close to all the major hiking trails.
