Apache Maid Cabin

The cabin was fine and easy to get to thankfully because they had signs. The perimeter was spacious and there was space for a fire pit and picnic tables. We were able to set up our hammocks. There were plenty of trees.

Big warning: The only major issues we had were the spiders. They were huge. We spent a large portion of our time killing multiple spiders inside the cabin. Even after killing spiders for a long while I left and went back and later there were even more spiders. Thankfully none of us were bit. I was not sure if they were venomous or not. Another major issue is the amount of fat droppings near the entrance of the vault toilet. We'll going to the restroom at night. There were two bats that lived there. Hopefully they will consider putting in bug traps or at least some netting or deterrent for the bats.

One of the best camping trips of my life

Cabin was a great stay for us looking forward to book many stays there, the only thing is we could not figure out a the way to turn the heater on other than that everything was great..

This was our 4th FS cabin and just like the previous times I am always pleasantly surprised by the past visitors with how well cleaned, maintained, and stocked the cabin is!

This cabin sits on a massive property and back from the road, so it’s very peaceful with almost no noise besides the occasional SxS going by during the day. The property is fenced but the fence is not in good shape so don’t rely on this if you have a dog who runs away!

The pit toilet building appears to be brand new - it was perfectly clean and no odor. However if you don’t like spiders don’t look around or above while in there. There were also quite a few small spiders in the cabin but nothing unmanageable.

Inside the cabin there is a full size bed (super comfortable!) below a twin size bunk, a twin size rollaway bed, and a full size futon. There’s also two armchairs and a dining room table with 5 chairs. There’s also a gas grill outside, fire pit with grill, and two picnic tables. There’s a bunch of windows all with screens and all of the doors have screens and it was amazing to be able to open them all up and have the air blowing through all weekend!

Everything we needed for cleaning, kitchen / cooking utensils, pots, pans, and plates / silverware was there too!

The highlight we had was a huge bull elk that was right out in the front yard!

I love this cabin! Absolutely amazing time every time. This was our third stay and I will be planning our 4th trip very soon. The fresh coat of red paint on the exterior looks great! Thank you to the Forest Service for offering such a wonderful opportunity. Thank you to everyone who visits for leaving the cabin and the site a little bit better. When we all do our part to keep the area litter free, the fire pit free of debris, leaves, and other kindling, the cabin cleaner than when we arrived, and pack out our trash and pet waste, we help make this experience wonderful for the next guest.

Quite with dark skies. Was a charming spot.

It was an incredible experience and we had a wonderful time! Three days was not enough and wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin had just the right amount of amenities to not detract from it's rustic charm. The location is perfect, wooded and secluded with a perimeter fence that gave plenty of room for our dog to explore- she had so much fun. The fire pit area is very large with a picnic table, the outdoor sink area is great for washing dishes, and there is a second picnic table near the propane bbq grill. The vault toilet was very clean. The entire campsite and cabin is very clean, no issues with flying insects or bugs. Quite a few lizards, birds, and a fox make their home nearby. We even saw 5 or 6 deer in the meadow on the day we arrived. We will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone who visits for leaving the cabin/camp in the same condition as you found it, if not better. To those who are making their first visit, bring plenty of water as you'll need a few gallons to clean the interior of the cabin and mop the floor, and clean the picnic tables and outdoor sink. Supplies (mop/broom/dust pan/bucket) are on-site at the cabin. Thank you to the Forest Service for making this experience possible, we are planning for our next visit soon!

What a great escape from cell phone towers, traffic, and hustle & bustle. Step back in time to enjoy nature, giant pine tress, and clean air. We will do Apache Maid Cabin again and stay longer.

Cabin was amazing once again. Recommendations would be to fill in the ruts of road leading into the cabin once you enter through the gates. The ruts are becoming deeper and deeper each visit, soon only certain vehicles will be able to get back into the cabin area. Another recommndation would to place a door to close off the other area of the cabin off the galley. Fix the bathroom door as you are unable to lock the door appropriately. Then lastly place an eyelet hook lock on the main gally door on the inside so you can lock the screen door from the inside at night.
