What Guests Are Saying
Choctaw is highly praised for its welcoming atmosphere, with staff like Jeannie making visitors feel at home. The campground is noted for being clean, family-friendly, and well-maintained, with convenient amenities such as Ferguson's Marina nearby. While there are some concerns regarding restroom cleanliness, high grass, and the need for more campsite upgrades, many guests express their intention to return for future visits.

Tried modifying our reservation, thought it had then when I went back in to check our new date, just to make sure of our new check in date, found out it hadn't changed at all. Tried again to modify it and it wouldn't. Refreshed phone and app, tried again, same thing. Tried several more times, lots of fustration, over and over it would not change. Waiting currently to see if our money will be returned......

For some unknown reason the Corp has kept the lake at a very high level making the water green and dingy. The new swimming area is all rocks and bushes making it almost impossible to enjoy. The launching ramp can only have one maybe two boats at a time launching due to such high water and making a very long line to launch. I understand the water being high back in May but not in July? This seems to be the norm the last few years. Can anyone explain why? We have discussed moving to a new lake. This was our 3rd. week this year to stay at Choctaw and maybe the last.

We camped June 13, 2021 and the grass needed mowed then, but camped again July 8, 2021 and the grass was knee high to walk to the water. We camped in D8 and so the grass was so high we carried our puppy. Seems like know one is controlling or enforcing any rules. We called the Heber Springs Corp of Engineers office to see when the grass was going to be mowed, and was told it's under contract and would call back to let me know. I received no call back. Also, seen campsite with 6 tents and several vehicles. Camp Host was not making her normal rounds. We love the campground and are going back this weekend, but I do hope it has been mowed!

The campsite was very clean. The gate attendant was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very helpful. I really liked having life jackets available at the swimming area.
