Dam - Quarry

Beautiful park below Norfork Dam. Stayed at site 63 no problems. Will continue to stay at the camp grounds in the future. Dry Run Creek at the hatchery is a great place for the kids to fish with nice Rainbows and Browns (catch and release only). I am a fly fisherman myself and had easy access to walk-in fishing below the dam. Good job Arkansas.

Our reservation was for the days just after a tornado came thru nearby and took out all the electrical power. Gate attendant tried her best, but nobody else around to help her try to get our refund. So I returned home and went on-line to cancel both reservations (a 3-day followed by a 1-day). Recreation.gov processed both, gave me the refund for the one day, but not the initial three days. Still waiting for the refund for nights of May 27, 28 and 29 when we were denied camping space due to their lack of electrical power following the tornado (Salesville and Briarcliff, Arkansas on Sunday, May 26).

Very nice campsite close to the water and very clean restrooms.

We had a pleasant stay. The park is really well maintained and the restrooms have hot water and flushing toilets. Camping comes with the privilege of swimming in the lake above the campground free of charge. Our plan of camping at the end of the available campsites for the purpose of having less traffic and noise did not go as planned. There was a loud party across the river, blaring music and singing badly. Also, many cars drove down and turned around right in front of our campsite. So much for less traffic. While I would likely choose a different campsite, I would stay at this campground again. It is set up well for tent camping or camping in a camper. The cool breeze coming off the river is a welcome respite from humid summer days. The park rangers were visible and polite. There is a Dollar General nearby for those last minute necessities (like ice). If you want to take a break from cooking there are several eating establishments in the area. For a relaxing stay in the country with amenities to make it feel like home, this is the place for you!

We unfortunately stayed during when a tornado hit. We were forced to change sites due to power outages and site damage. The park rangers Nadine communicate with each other or the park attendant, so we ended up with a ticket for changing sites, even though a ranger told us too. The park attendant watched us move into site directly across from her, yet pretended to not know what was going on. She was not at the office during listed hours, and was rude when we were able to finally talk to her. The website is awful, doesn’t allow you to make changes on a holiday weekend. There was also dirty diapers at our site campfire when we arrived. We will never stay here again.

Site 52 is beautiful. Right on the river with a bench overlooking.

Although I didn't go to fish I did go to relax. That I was able to do.

We love this campground and usually go every year. The shower houses/toilet buildings are in dire need of updating. They were dirty and none of the shower heads worked correctly. The shower curtains were ripped and barely hanging on. How much do shower heads and curtains cost anyway? They have been this way every year unfortunately, but we love the park otherwise. Beautiful area.
