We really like the park and lake. We only go there in the spring before the Flies. This park has way too many flies. They should be able to spray for them. The fish cleaning station needs fixed. As many people that fish this lake needs a decent fish cleaning station. We had to wait till 2:30 for the people in our spot to leave. Found out they only live 15 mi away but they left their campsite to go to church. Biggest problem with that was they went home after church to change cloths. Living that close to the park they could have went home parked the camper and then gone to church. I hate to have to wait on a campsite when the occupants are not there camping.

Quiet, wasn't too crowded. Lake adjacent site, very nice scenery. In the morning before sunrise there was a bit of traffic at the boat launch, but I was already awake so it wasn't a bother. Something to keep in mind if that's relevant to you.

This campground is spacious, well maintained, quiet and beautiful! Site is paved and level, setting up was a breeze. Sites F2 and F3 are situated together in a parallel parking setup but there was plenty of room with my 25 ft camper and the neighbors 30 ft camper. There are three terraced steps down to the picnic table/fire ring but they are not steep. There is not a BBQ grill. Will need a long water hose to reach the faucet. The bathrooms are not close to the site. The restroom bldg on the B side was clean. The one by the playground was not. Campsite is facing the water - the swimming area and boat ramp. There is a parking area between the site and the water to park extra vehicles and boats to keep an eye on your vehicles.

We have loved staying at Shoal Bay in the past. The last few trips we have noticed things not being taken care of like normal. 2 times now that we have stayed they have had electrical issues. The power kept surging and messed up the air condioner in our camper over Labor Day weekend. The park attendant was notified of the electrical issue and someone was sent out to work on the power box on our site. We were told it was fixed and we shouldn't have any more problems. Later that day, both our site and the one next to us had the same electrical problem. The park is in desperate need of an update and after speaking to others, its been an issue for a while. We are now stuck with the bill of fixing our air.

NOTE: A special event application is required for any event including, but not limited to one or more of the following: 1. An entry, spectator, or participating fee is charged 2. If you have an anticipated attendance of 100 or more persons 3. An extraordinary impact on project resources is expected 4. Corps personnel provide additional patrols, surveillance, refuse collection, and/or crowd control 5. Event involves the use of concession tents and/or vendors 6. Event involves Bounce Houses/Bump N Jump Inflatables 7. Fishing Tournament 8. Music Festival: In addition to the special event application, you may be asked to submit the following information before approval can be granted: (1) proof of liability insurance; (2) event details & description; (3) schedule of events; (4) parking plans. PROHIBITED: Please note that livestock, exotic animals, explosives, loaded projectile firing devices, pinatas, water balloons, and commercial activities are prohibited on project lands unless written permission has been received from the District Commander. If commercial tents are permitted for your special event, please note that driving tent stakes into concrete or asphalt on project lands is prohibited. For additional information regarding Special Event Applications & Permit Fees, please contact the Russellville Project Office at (501) 340-1762.
