What Guests Are Saying
Prairie Creek Campground offers a beautiful, shaded environment with clean facilities and easy access to the lake, making it a popular choice for families and outdoor enthusiasts. While some sites are uneven and require leveling, many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, friendly staff, and well-maintained picnic areas. However, there have been concerns about safety, drainage issues in shower houses, and a few inconsistent amenities that could benefit from improvement.

We love meeting at the Grand Pavilion at the Prairie Creek Recreational Area. It is perfect for our church wide cookout and close to the lake for our baptism service. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for us to meet. The tables, kitchen area and access to restrooms are fantastic.

Very nice park, location is great, water areas to enjoy, beach and areas of shore to play with your dog in the water.Huge marina, lots of boating taking place. Great restaurant at the marina.
The area is very hilly, sites ate generally sloped, definitely need additional blocking to help level. It doesn’t appear the volunteers do much in way of cleaning or straightening the sites. You will see them drive through the check passes, but other than that.
We were there over a weekend and it becomes very busy very family oriented lots of pavilions. One dump station on the way out a very tight turn to get to the dump especially with a large class A
No problem with 50 amp service that was great water pressure appeared to be a little bit low other than that we enjoyed ourselves there
We are at site 50

Overall the experience was mostly nice. We camped on a Monday night and it was quite peaceful and quiet for the most part. The campground area was clean and easy to set our tent up in. Here are my only complaints: First: the swim area has exposed rebar sticking out of the ground in various places that are not covered or marked and are quite dangerous, should one fall or trip onto them; Second: the hiking trail was not clearly marked, and had multiple trees and limbs going across the trail in places making it impossible to stay on the trail at times. We sort of got lost due to this and ended up just cutting through the woods up a hill to try to get back to "civilization." It all ended fine, but not the pleasant hike we were hoping for. The lake itself is beautiful though, and you can get wonderful views of it via the hiking trail, so it all turned out alright. We will be coming back, as this is the closest campground for us now that Wedington is going to take several more years to reopen.

Lots of shade. Great Lake access. Close to town and biking. Shower house could be more taken care of. Spots are very difficult to back into.

Beautiful campground with a variety of sites. Most are shaded among tall trees. The campground map can fool you---the loops look close together but in fact are far apart due to the steep terrain. Only one shower house so if you don't want to drive to take a shower, choose a site close to that.
When we arrived at the park, we realized the site we had booked was way too short for our 25' Airstream. Park Attendant Eric was so helpful and welcoming, and found us a site that would fit for the dates we needed. Really appreciated his help!

Shower floors usually wet; floors slant away from drains. Trailer pads are paved but usually titled or too steep BUT there isn’t much flat land so engineers did the best they could. For the cost it’s a good location for visiting family in the area.

This is a great campground. It's close enough to town for visiting attractions and picking up supplies. The major down side is that the shower house needs some serios work done with the floor drains. It seems the drains are higher than the floor, so the men's bathroom floods each time someone takes a shower..

We stayed at site 85 and a friend stayed at site 87, both sites weren't good. The picnic tables were on the wrong side of the campers and the area hadn't been raked. Very rocky and full of sticks. The area was also full of ticks. Between myself, our friends and pets I bet we had over 20 of them on us or attached to us.
There are other very beautiful sites in this campground. I would try to stay out of this loop area.
