Nice quiet campground right on the lake. Lots of birds and butterflies this trip. Last September I saw an alligator but not this go round. Cell service works just fine for me (ATT). I was able to stream some Netflix, talk on the phone, and text with no issues. The camp hosts are great and are there if you need them. There is a small store a few miles away across the dam. You are about 25-30 min from Historic Washington State Park and about that same distance to Hope. All sites have lots of big older trees with shade (except for the one pull through spot right at the lake. It is a nice spot but sun does hit it most of the day it looked like).

We love coming to beards Bluff it’s close to Ashdown if we need to go get anything. It’s convenient to get to dam where we fish sometimes. It is beautiful sunsets. You get to meet others. We love it here.

The campground is so much cleaner than when we were there several years ago ! The sites have been upgraded as well along the lakefront. The park hosts are amazing people. They were so friendly and told us everything we needed to know about our site and the park. . We have never encountered such nice park hosts at any park where we have stayed. You need to keep them....they are quite an access to the park system !

The campground host Jeff, was the best campground host we ever met. He called us on the road and told us our site was ready whenever we got there. We were on our way to Texas and stayed there on the way down and back. Coming back, Jeff called again and told us bad storm was coming and moved us to a better site where we were less likely to be affected by the weather. You need more hosts like Jeff. He really cares about people.

Nice remote camp sites on the water. Quiet area, with water fowl visits daily. Lots of history nearby.
