The only bad time was when a Hugh group cam in on Nov. 22, and were in the camp sites below me and across the street from that one. They pulled branches from trees and cut branches from trees came up behind the scrubs in my site and started ripping that out to build their fires. Did the same thing the next morning. Now I went over to vail lake and bought our fire wood. That group is obnoxious.

I stayed at site 9 and recommend it -- ample space for tent on flat clear ground, site is adjacent to water spigot, and a short walk to a dumpster and outhouses, (along with the standard amenities: fire pit, picnic table).
Outhouses smelled bad for one of the mornings but were soon deodorized. Outhouses (vault toilets) were still gross, but nothing special.
Activities-wise, we hiked along some of the dripping springs trail (at the end end of the campground) and it was beautiful (more than I expected given the reviews/photos I had seen). And our main outing was a hot air balloon ride with California Dreamin (15min drive from the campsite) which I highly recommend (in winter -- better experience than summer).
No cell service at the campsite, but a few miles down the road and the cell service picks right back up. (Google Fi)

Camp host was very nice and flexible when we got there. Despite the several campsites all together we always had enough room and it was relatively quiet. Very nice for a quick weekend away.
