Our experience was terrible. Highway 38 was closed below and above the campground and we were not able to gain access. We had to drive 100 miles to finally end up in the City of Joshua Tree. It was awful.

Site 30 felt very much away from everyone. We loved our very quiet and peaceful stay. Furthermore anytime a National Forest campground has running water, flush toilets and showers, as far as I'm concerned it darn close to glamping. A perfect rural peaceful experience.

It's very peaceful , With a lot of ponderosa and jeffrey pines and oaks. We went during the week and it was very quiet. We stayed in sites 43 and 44. They were very, very good. Plenty roomy and and somewhat private. A small complaint would be that there is not a lot to do besides relaxing and going on a couple of small hikes.

With the highway shut down (just east of the campground), the area is dead quiet. We were the only people in the campground one night and the other two nights there were only a couple other occupied sites. It was ideal. The showers were always hot and the campground water was delicious to drink. The campground is very clean and maintained. The camp host was friendly and helpful. I love camping in late September, known as the Indian summer. The air is warm during the day and crisp from sunset to dawn.

Lots of shaded sites with a pleasant hiking trail between the two loops, at a great elevation. It's close to the highway and probably loud most of the time, but the road to Big Bear was still closed after the big storm so it was pleasant. The real problem is how expensive it is for how little service they provide. The electrical outlets in the bathrooms have all been covered/removed, and on Monday (of a three-day weekend) one of the bathrooms was locked just so they wouldn't have to service it. This was after a long period on Sunday when two bathrooms didn't have a single square of toilet paper. Interesting how different this is from Barton Flats half a mile away, which actually lets you plug in a hairdryer (or charge your phone) and wipe your butt for $35 plus fees.

Really enjoy this campground - it’s our third time camping here. I’ve always been afraid of a bear encounter, so I feel on edge there since we were told bears frequent the area. Still no bear sightings and for that we are grateful! lol. Most of the sites are well spaced out and the bathrooms have been pretty clean the times we’ve been there. Happy that they have flush toilets!

Camped out at site 35. It was a very nice site with plenty of shade and flat ground to set up our tent. We also had water access on our site! The camps have enough distance from each other and provide privacy. There are clean flushing toilets and showers! Took a nice short 2 mile hike to nearby fishing lake. Beautiful campsite overall I do recommend this site and campground.
