What Guests Are Saying

Forks Campground offers a friendly and accommodating atmosphere with clean facilities, including well-maintained bathrooms. Campers appreciated the beautiful views of the lake and mountains, as well as the convenient access to trails and nearby restaurants. However, there were concerns about bear activity, with some guests experiencing bear incidents, though staff were responsive and helpful in these situations.

We had a good experience at Forks campgrounds. The only problem is there is still a lot of bear activity. They are still around the campground and can do a lot of damage. We didn't have a problem, but some other campsites were affected. Bear boxes are now available to protect your food, but the bears are still a problem.

Carmen was an amazing host. Those campground bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever experienced at a campground.

Overall it was a good experience. Caretaker ensured the facilities ( including bathrooms) were clean and very near to the Bass Lake.

Awful campground. Spots literally next to a busy road and no shade. Don’t go here.

We stay annually at Bass lake with 3 other families, but first time at Forks campground. We loved having the lake view and easy access to a beach area. Our sites were adjacent to the main road but the trees and shrubs helped block the noise and gave privacy. Appalled at how fast people drive on the narrow winding road. Host was very friendly, sites and bathrooms were well kept.

I and my family have camped at the Forks campground many times, and have always had a pleasant experience until our visit last month from June 15 - June 19. A group of us were there for the week in separate sites. When we checked in, the camp host made us aware that there had been a lot of bear activity, and to take the necessary precautions....which we did. Unfortunately, despite all precautions, a mama bear and cub attempted to break into our trailer the first day as we were setting up camp. They were not easily scared off, and it was unnerving. We alerted the camp host at that time. The next day, the bears attempted to break in again while we were not there. There was not a lot of damage, just screens shredded and some paw scratches. My daughter's family were in a site just down the hill, and the bear(s) were able to break into their trailer, causing considerable damage. The camp host was again notified about both incidents. On the next to the last day, (Wednesday), we returned from the lake to find that the bear(s) had succeeded in breaking into my trailer. It was a mess, but miraculously there was only minor damage. Again, the camp host was made aware, and we asked her if anything was being done about it...was the Forest Service notified? Fist and Game? Why doesn't the campground have bear boxes to store food if there is that much activity? We were told that (I believe Fish and Game) would be there the next day to capture and relocate the bears. Unfortunately, our group of campers were so rattled by the experience, that we packed up as quickly as possible...a day early.
I don't know where the blame lies....The Forks, the Forest Service, Fish and Game? I don't usually leave reviews, but this time I felt compelled to. Luckily, my trailer didn't sustain major damage, and is in the shop as I write. My daughter's trailer did not fair so well...it has much more damage than mine.
I hope it improves before something worse happens.

After checking in, we were told there has been an active mama bear and cub in the campground. Not concerning on its own but we were told by the host that this bear has been opening cars and RVs and there are no bear boxes. Apparently this bear was enough of a concern that they had traps out and were trying to capture and relocate the bears. However, our site was at that back of the campground against the woods and these traps were located in the middle of the campground. I’m not able to predict the behavior of a wild animal so we did not stay.
