What Guests Are Saying

Grasshopper Flat offers a beautiful, well-maintained campground with friendly hosts, particularly praised for their helpfulness and knowledge of the area. The clean facilities and peaceful atmosphere make it ideal for family camping, though visitors should be aware of bear activity and the lack of bear boxes. Some campsites are closely spaced, and parking rules can be strict, but overall, guests find the experience relaxing and enjoyable.

Don't be late!! I wish that were just to say because you'll miss out on a beautiful campground , majestic lake, and curious wildlife. The grounds were well maintained along with the restroom and shower facilities. Absolutely ideal camping for the family. **FUN FACT** If you happen to be late for check in, you are supposed to notify the grounds supervisor. Otherwise, your reservation can be revoked even though you've already paid for it. Not sure why that is but it was something I learned on this trip. The more you know. Enjoy the wonderful outdoors at this location and don't keep it waiting!

This is a nice place to camp; quiet, laid back, everyone is generally friendly and the camp hosts do a great job. On site showers are piping hot and access to the lake is wide open. Lots of wildlife too, we've seen deer, foxes, bats, owls, chipmunks, a vulture, bald eagles, and even a pelican. We also saw a momma bear and three cubs at dusk, from a respectable distance of course.

Quick advice for campers that don't know. There are bears in the area all the time. We've camped in Grasshopper and Grizzly for years and there have always been bears around, and we have never had a problem with them. Be sure to keep your food, coolers, trash and goodies stowed and they will have no reason to visit your site in the night. The only people who we've met that have had bears visit them were people who left their trash out overnight or did not properly stow their food. Cooler in the trunk, cover with a blanket to reduce smell, throw away your trash in the locked bins. DO NOT KEEP FOOD AND TRASH IN YOUR TENT!

After over 10 years of camping here, my experience was less than great due to problems encountered this trip with the camp hosts over what constitutes an RV. Last trip in June we had the same two people with the same two vehicles in one spot: no problems, paid for the extra vehicle in the spot. This trip, the same two vehicles were now deemed to be “RV’s” when they were clearly not. One is a passenger van and one is a panel van neither with no water, electric or other modifications that would be an RV. We were told we could not park together, initially, and to stop setting up at the site. We finally sorted it out, but were told we could not camp together “next time” or needed to reserve the group site. I don’t agree with their RV definition and neither does your own website. Our vehicles do not match that definition. Debating our alternatives for next year.

Camp host Patty and RoeAnn are awesome. They are friendly, informative, and always maintain safety in the park. The bathrooms are spotless, and the rules of the are oark are enforced. Love grasshopper, and will be back soon. Great job ladies.

There is a nice hike from the reservoir through the forest, we cut into grasshopper Campground, but I think the hike went further.
