Multiple sites had campfires going after burn permits were suspended. One campsite set off fire crackers beginning at sunset. Nice facilities but no camp host and the rangers were ineffective at enforcing fire rules despite the recent wildfires.

Most sites are very nice. Some are backwards and not made for trailers. Great location near Plumas Pines.

We had a great time at this campground, our only wish is that it was close to the water. The walk is about 15-20 min depending on how much stuff you carry, the road is busy but easy to pull a wagon. The beaches are very rocky, there are only a few places where the large rocks have been moved around enough to create a seating area. The camp sites are incredibly spacious, enough that we had a bad mitten court set up! Nice not to be packed in next to campers, there are lots of meadows in between the camping sections. The dump station is very, very clean and there is fresh water accessible at the dump station to fill the fresh water tank and use for drinking. Great stay and a lovely campground.

Fire got us evacuated and no refund was given
Plus it was damn near impossible to find because the campground is called almanor that’s the entire lake so if you google it you get 5 campgrounds with the same name around the same lake and Recreation.gov has the worst app it says it has no service to direct me to any campsite whether I have wifi or call signal the app still won’t work

Almanor South is a beautiful campground. The sites are spacious and far enough away from other sites to offer some privacy. This campground is fairly close to the lake. While damage from the Dixie fire was evident near the campground, there was no damage in the campground. I would stay here again.
