Furnace Creek Campground

Great campsite! Close to some of the main attractions in the Park. The reason why I didn’t give it a five due to not having showes on site. Good times!

Had campsite 25 - nice site - clean bathrooms until one camoer decided to dump his uneaten oatmeal in the sink and leave it there ) We are tent campers - We have an issue with the extended generator hours - 7am to 7pm! So just when you want to get up and have coffee the RVers across the way turn on their generators- then when you want to sit down at the end of the day and have dinner as it is cooling off - you are listening to generators - What we don't get is the RVers are sitting outside in the shade having their dinner - listening to their own generators- an adjacent RVer got back after 8pm then turned on their generator until 10pm while people all around in tents are trying to sleep - Need to change to solar powerd only allowed -(we once had a man tell us when running a generator after hours that his wife needed the microwave for the potaotes !)
The Visitor Center is a great place to get an overview of the PARK
A beautiful ride out to Wildrose Charcoal Kilns- and a great hike up to the saddle - 3.66 miles RT - ~850 elevation gain and only 72 degress instead of 96 at Furnance Creek . Don't miss the short walking tour at Harmony Borax works close to Furnance Creek - The Artist drive ( 9miles) and the Borax Canon drive (2mile) are well worth it. Dante's Peak is great - at least 20 degrees cooler , with a trail for those that want to hike . The Golden Canyon /Gower loop is wonderful- hike ,though hot - so make sure you have plenty of water
We stayed a night longer than planned and discovered the "grocery" stores at Furnance Creek and Stove Pipe Wells are very limited in groceries to make a meal so we ate at the Wildrose grill one night - ( the Saloon had an almost 2 hour wait) good simple food -sandwiches etc - family friendly with dart boards and games - and sat out on the lovely porch just as the sun went down- though a golf course in the middle of the desert makes no sense to me

Staff working in the check in kiosk were friendly and helpful. The campground was well maintained and clean. We were pleased with the full hook up site for our 5th wheel trailer. I contacted the campground host who was very helpful when we departed. I notified her that we were departing several days early and wanted to ensure the campsite was made available for someone else. She was friendly and helpful.

My particular campsite was not very nice, zero privacy, but the campground as a whole was fine. But there was water, and bathrooms were functional and clean.

Site 131 was a great walk in site. Very close to its designated parking spot. Some shade and privacy from trees. Fire pit and sturdy camping table. Away from RVs and generators. Beautiful dark sky at night

Great location with convenient flush toilets, but not super great for tent camping depending on your spot. Mostly flat but just all dirt and it's very open so no privacy. Many of the sites are in the direct line of the RVs or parking spots so you can have a lot of headlights shining on you as people come in to try to get set up or come back after dinner etc. We made it work but I probably wouldn't camp here again.

Due to last minute scheduling (after we learned there was a super bloom), we had a different, non-electric campsite each of our three days. The campsites were fine for a desert setting. It would have been REALLY NICE to have had showers available! The restrooms weren’t cleaned each day. They had hand dryers but no soap. 😣
