Site backs up to shade bushes and can push tent into the bushes to provide coverage from the sun. Tent does get close to the fire ring.
The campground is sandy, if it's windy it creates a bit of a sandstorm and blows in and on things.

Great wide open location. This is part of the dirt driveway portion of the loop which was actually way better than the cemented drive up sites as you didn’t feel so on top of your neighbor.
Pros: Close to restroom, wash station & visitor center, larger site with more space for privacy
Cons: More foot traffic and lights at night from those coming into the visitor center.

I know that for some, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to DV. For me, since I've started coming? it feels like coming home. Furnace Creek staff (at campsite and at visitor's center) are always helpful, knowledgeable (which is super important for this area especially regarding terrain/accessibility/etc), and friendly while sharing their knowledge.

Site 17 had a beautiful shade tree, and a nice flat area for a tent. However, it was very noisy and small. Also, other campers cut through it often.
As for the hiking, Mosaic Canyon was beautiful spot and not far in distance. The mountain views are also good from this area.

Check-in process was smooth. Restroom was clean. The only issue was my campsite was close to the dumpsters, and some people just slammed the dumpsters at night causing a lot of noise (not the national park’s fault). I will stay at this campground again in the future
