Green Valley

Great place to camp.

Nice shady, roomy campground with well maintained facilities, helpful host, and family friendly atmosphere. The lake is wonderful for swimming if you can handle the snow-melt chilly water. The easy drives over the Big Bear, Arrowhead, and Lake Gregory open up additional recreation options. GVL is an annual event for us now!

My two dogs, husband and I very much enjoyed the labor weekend at Green Valley camping site. The host was very attentive and welcoming and the site we picked was perfect which is #4 for many reasons - Not directly seen by other campers which could sometimes trigger our dogs to react and also provided us a great sense of privacy. We have camped many local sites, but I must say that I had the best experience at this specific camping ground. Not many mosquitos (lots of bees, but I way prefer bees over mosquitos), short distance to a lake and amazing trails. Price was also right on. Highly recommend!

It was much better than the previous year with campers next to me that were drunk loud and wanted to beat up a senior citizen. I thought I was was supposed to get a free night credited to my account, but never happened. We love our annual camp out and will continue to use this service.

We had a wonderful time at Green Valley Lake! We did have a few hiccups. Watch out at night for the WOODEN POSTS THAT LINE THE CAMPSITES and parking spots - smaller ones can easily be missed and ran over, causing damage to your vehicle!

There is no CELL PHONE SERVICE at the the campsite, but if you drive back down to town, you can get a little bit of service there if you're lucky. The local restaurants provide wifi to their customers too if needed. We went down on a weekend when there was a Woodstock anniversary celebration. It was very well attended (but not too crowded!). The local market provides a diverse assortment of snacks, food, ice, candy, camping supplies, etc. - although they are a little more on the expensive side.

A note about the beach at Green Valley Lake - if you bring your DOGS, they will not be allowed in the swim area. They are only allowed in the area outside the gated swim area. At the same time, please note that humans are not allowed to swim outside the gated swim area. So all in all, don't plan on a day in the water with your pup!

EXTRA PARKING - you can park right out front of the campsite without getting a violation, but those spots can get filled up quickly. You can contact the host to purchase an additional parking permit if the campground isn't too full.

We had a great time at Green Valley Lake and our hosts we amazing, but unfortunately shared that it would be their last year at Green Valley Lake, yet will likely go again!

The campground is very well maintained. The bathrooms were clean, with flush toilets, running water, and lights. The sites themselves don't have water, but there were faucets all over the campground so you could fill up a jug and take it back to your site. Bear lockers are installed at every site. The hosts were very nice, and sold firewood at their trailer. There was no AT&T cell service at the site, but there was a few miles down the road.

The location is great - half way between Big Bear and Arrowhead. For off-roaders like myself, the Big Pine Flats trail starts just a couple miles down the road. The camp is about a mile past the village of Green Valley Lake, which has a small market and a restaurant. A few miles further is Arrowbear, which has a couple very well stocked markets and gas stations. Running Springs is a few more miles down the road, and has all the services you would need in a small town.

I stayed in Site #1. While it is closest to the road, it's well isolated in it's own private little grove. Parking for the site is quite a distance from the site itself (unlike other sites in the camp), but it is worth it for the privacy - plus there is a foot path between the site and the road for easier access.

All in all, an excellent campground in an ideal location. I'll be going back again.

We stayed in a group site with friends, and loved the location as well as the camp host. There was plenty of flat space for multiple tents, and the kids loved a small (think SMALL) “creek” that collected into a hole on our site. The only downside was that the site is on the edge of the campground and runs along a dirt road (that was closed) but still had motorbikes and jeeps going on it regardless (and a couple brazen ones coming through our site to get out since the gate on the road was closed). Otherwise our experience was great and we will definitely be back to this site!
