WORST Camp hosts EVER. Our reservation allowed 2 vehicles per site. They refused to allow us the 2 vehicles and said it was only 1 car for 1 of the spots. They made us pay cash which we did not anticipate needing and they do not have an atm. They were super rude and refused to honor our site agreement. This is one spot I'll NEVER return to and I'd suggest you don't waste your time or money unless you want to be scammed.

AVOID!! I have never felt compelled to write a review for a campground until now. Our campsite was covered in trash, not a few pieces of cardboard but toilet paper, bottle caps, half melted crayons. The hosts were extremely rude and wanted to charge extra for everything. The hosts own the lake but not the campsites and it was clear they didn't give the campground any effort. If you want to camp in this area check out Sugar Pine lake down the road. We found a spot in Shirttail Creek Campgrounds that was lovely.

The listing for this campground is incredibly misleading. The recreation.gov booking only gives you access to a camp site which most of them don’t even have a vehicle parking spot at each site, you have to park in the overflow section. each campsite is extremely close together and is lacking in decent flat spots to pitch a tent.
The adjacent privately owned Morningstar Campground controls access to the lake and does not allow dogs in the water. The fees to use any facilities owned by Morningstar are outrageous. $25 per day for lake access, an additional $25 per fishing pole in the water per day, and $50 to walk your dog on leash on the trail around the lake. Otherwise your dog must be kept in your campsite. All of these fees are in addition to the $24 a night for the recreation.gov booking too.
Morningstar only accepts cash and doesn’t have their fees posted online anywhere so your only choice is to drive back into Foresthill and use an ATM. This was an incredibly disappointing trip, after learning about the hidden fees and unfriendliness towards dogs, we turned around and went home instead of bothering to stay and try and salvage the trip.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
