What Guests Are Saying
Grassy Flat Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with spacious sites and easy access to a clear river, making it great for families and summer swimming. While there are some issues with road noise and the cleanliness of the vault toilets, many visitors appreciate the campground's proximity to Stout Grove and the overall peaceful atmosphere. A few guests noted trash concerns and a lack of privacy when busy, but overall, it remains a solid choice for campers exploring the redwoods.

The campsites are pretty close together with thinned vegetation, so not much privacy. If it’s a busy weekend, such as a holiday, it does get loud on the campsites. We had a large group that booked multiple sites and we had kids running through our campsite and screaming from dawn to dusk. We just avoided spending too much time at the campsite. Everything else about the redwoods was gorgeous though.

Map not accurate for site locations. Site 15 is tight and trees need cut to make it better or just use as a tent site

A great campground if all those in redwood national park get filled up. No flowing water in the bathroom but overall is pretty good. Remember to get a fire permit even for gas stove.

Very convenient, spacious sites. Hidden from road but there is road noise. Campers should know to bring their own water as taps don't work.

I found the campground clean with other attendants observing rules and quiet hours. All in all it was a peaceful night beside one of the most beautiful rivers in N. California.

Too close to the road to be peaceful. Wish they’d expand into the back loop near the water. Fine spot but not a first choice. Fairly empty during a summer week. Nice river / beach access wasn’t too crowded.
Had a family next to us with a toddler screaming nonstop for 2 days. Really brutal, made me wish for a camp host.

Took a chance staying outside of one of the big park campgrounds because they were full and so happy that we did. Site 18 was large enough for three tents and plenty of leftover room. Road noise was apparent but it wasn’t too bad at night. The river is a fun little spot with deep enough areas to swim and skip rocks, perfect to send the older kids to for an hour for some quiet time while making dinner after a long day in the water. Bathrooms were kept clean and stocked with toilet paper. Camp host was non-existent the 5 days we were there with an off duty/do not disturb sign up the whole time. For a busy weekend we expected some support especially when we had questions about the mountain lion sighting warnings that were up everywhere. We did see a house cat roaming around, not sure what the story is on that but it would not let us approach.
