The campsites are pretty close together with thinned vegetation, so not much privacy. If it’s a busy weekend, such as a holiday, it does get loud on the campsites. We had a large group that booked multiple sites and we had kids running through our campsite and screaming from dawn to dusk. We just avoided spending too much time at the campsite. Everything else about the redwoods was gorgeous though.

The sites are spacious and the restrooms were clean. This site has some road noise but is mostly quiet and peaceful. The trees are plentiful and the river is a short walk away.

Just a one night stopover for me, on the way to Jedidiah Smith. Easy to maneuver, mostly level. Vault toilets as clean as you could expect. Never saw a camp host. Very shady and lush. may be a problem if you depend on solar.

It is neither grassy nor flat! Small campground but moderate privacy. LOTS of road noise from large trucks downshifting for a grade. The outhouses stink pretty bad on the outside and it settles into camp as the air cools, so you might sleep with human waste smell in your dreams. Good river access for people who don’t mind a small scramble, but surprising amount of trash (not the campground’s fault). There’s also a gravel pit next door that people visit to set up off grid camps, dump trash, and drink, based on the beer cans.
But, all that considered, worth it! Very close to Stout Grove, which is a major plus because you can get there early to beat the crowd, or leave late and have a short drive back to camp.

We had campsite 13 which is right next to the high way. The campsite was great, shade, river is 50 feet away. Beautiful. 17 and 19 were away from the highway!

Good campsite, clean toilets especially for being vault toilets. Super easy access to a stream with very clear water, good to swim in summer. Site was a good size for our 6 person tent.
