What Guests Are Saying

Lake Sonoma offers a beautiful camping experience with stunning views, serene waters, and great access to hiking and fishing. Many campsites provide a peaceful atmosphere, especially during mid-week visits when crowds are minimal. However, some areas require better maintenance, including trash management and restroom facilities, and campers should be cautious of wildlife encounters, such as rattlesnakes and yellow jackets.

Fun overnight camp spot! You could spot some cool wildlife if you're lucky. And catfish if you wet a line!

We backpacked in and the trail was not super well-maintained. The site was OK but not a lot of flat spots to pitch a tent. Also site 7 and 6 are on top of each other. Lots of boating activity which is to be expected for a boat in site, but I’d been hoping for more of a wilderness experience. TONS of poison oak overgrown across the trail in.

bathrooms were clean and stocked with paper. Tables , tent site, and firepit were in good shape and had good views of the lake. camping was not crowded despite labor day holiday and good weather.

Island View Campsite was great for our group of 20! Plenty of flat space for tents. 4 picnic tables in good condition. Plenty of trash cans. 3 usable toilets. The staff at the public boat launch sent us with extra toilet paper just in case the toilets weren't sufficiently stocked.

Our group of 20 canoed with 10 canoes from the public boat launch. The staff there wasn't thrilled with how long it took us to get the canoes off the trailer load our gear in them and start our trip - and again weren't thrilled with how long it took us to unload and get the canoes back on the trailer 2 days later.

We stayed at Broken bridge group site. Was very quiet and mellow, mostly clean. We cruised around to see other sites for future reference. Falcons Nest was in horrible condition. Trash everywhere and blowing into the lake. Is there anyone that maintains the sites?

The site was hard to get to and there was litter in the surrounding bushes. It also was right to the porter potties which stank, had no toilet paper and the doors were swinging in the wind. We moved to a different site because it was unoccupied but I was disappointed over all.

Amazing experience! We went out on Thursday and had the lake to ourselves!
Campsite was excellent. Easy access to hiking trails. Dark skies at night. Would do it again!

You may want to avoid gopher holes near campsite 11 Thumb Camp. We found a four foot plus rattlesnake eating a gopher there.
